| Segment Notes: |
This segment is used to indicate the type and function of the message and to transmit the identifying number.
All references other than the document number DE 1004 are to be put in the RFF segment (SG3).
DE 1004: It is recommended that the length of the document number be restricted to a maximum of 17 characters.
DE 1225: The message function, coded is a critical data element in this segment. It applies to all data indicated in the message. The following definitions apply for the restricted codes:
2 = Addition (DE 1229 in LIN is 1 = Addition). This code is used to add new or to provide information on existing products for the first time to the trading partner.
3 = Deletion (DE 1229 in LIN is 2 = Deletion). This code is used to delete products from a partner's master file. In the case of deletion, only the LIN segment needs to be sent in the detail section.
4 = Change (DE 1229 in LIN is 3 = Change). This code is used to modify any information relevant to a product already known by the trading partner. Only the segments containing modified information needs to be sent. All previously sent data in a modified segment must be provided. All occurrences (repetitions) of a modified segment must be provided (whether modified or not).
5 = Replace (DE 1229 in LIN is 1 = Addition). This code is used to cancel and replace a total product data file which was previously sent. Any products previously on a recipient's product file which are not included in this message should be deleted from the recipient's product file.
6 = Confirmation (DE 1229 in LIN is 4 = No Change). This code is used when product information contained in a previous transmission is sent again for confirmation purposes.
9 = Original - An original transmission of a Product Data.
